Field of Study - B.S. Mechanical Engineering
Mathematics and Physics were perhaps my favorite subjects in high school; however it wasn't until my second semester at Mesa Community College until the importance of a degree choice was explained to me. Having said strengths naturally inclined me toward the field of mechanical engineering, and I made up my mind somewhat naively that I would like to pursue a degree in that curriculum. I had many other talents from which to choose, however, my father instilled in me the importance of being able to provide for my future family and swayed me from pursuing a vocal performance degree or similarly, a degree with the trumpet. I then decided to serve a full-time mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and was called to serve in Cordoba, Argentina for two years.
Upon returning from my mission to Argentina, I found a beautiful and intelligent young woman named Jill Bacon to whom I later proposed and married. Regardless of all the successes which I ever accomplish throughout my career as an engineer, she will always be my greatest.
After our marriage, I continued with my degree in mechanical engineering. My career as a student has been marked with accomplishments which have shaped my character and defined how I intend to succeed as a professional engineer. I have been nominated and accepted to five honor societies namely: Tau Beta Pi National Honor Society, Golden Key International Honor Society, Phi Kappa Phi national honor Society, Magna Cum Laude National Scholars Honor Society, and Gamma Beta Phi National Honor Society. These accomplishments are largely due to academic distinction and personal integrity. I have been nominated and accepted to an International Conference in China sponsored by Golden Key. The name of the conference is the International Scholar Laureate Program Delegation on Engineering.
In addition to and as a result of my scholastic achievements, I have been offered a job with W.L. Gore and Associates and look forward to working with them in Maryland upon graduation.
